Research areas in the issue of lifelong impacts of motherhood

The project will focus on the following issues: 
  • Discrimination of women on the basis of employer’s presumption that they will decide to leave on maternity leave in the near future
  • Motivation to work and opportunity costs during parenthood
  • Higher unemployment rates of mothers with children
  • The income discrepancy caused by motherhood and having a child in a family
  • Lower pensions 
  • Transfers between parents and children 
  • Women on maternity leave searching for side jobs
  • Women after maternity leave searching for a position on a labor market (not clearly defined and flexible forms of work)
  • Women approaching pension age (deciding whether retire or continue in economic activity)
Propositions of the themes will be specified during the course of project on the basis of prior research of partner organizations.
